Innovating with supply chain partners to boost sustainability

Customer challenge

Our partner for this project is a luxury fashion house with over 4,000 employees, specialized in the production of high-end, craft bags, accessories and other leather goods for the global market.

Despite being fragmented, the value chain of the luxury leather goods is characterized by small highly specialized players, stars of their own niche production: the client aimed at tightening the bond with their suppliers, leveraging on their competences and craftmanship to identify solutions to minimize scraps or upcycle waste.

In the scope of a wider collaboration with Corporate Hangar, the client engaged us to find innovative ways to engage with their most strategic suppliers, while addressing the company’s sustainability goals.

Our results

We are strong believers in the value of co-develop innovations – or co-pilot innovation projects as we define this activity.

In partnership with our client, we identified the top 20 strategic suppliers, as well as the company’s challenges we wanted to address. We set up a dedicated call for ideas open to the suppliers, asking them to contribute with solutions that could support the company’s goals, and supported them in shaping their ideas and proposals into actionable project.

Together with the client company, we selected the most promising initiates, that led to a novel waste recycling process combining the competences of several players and the implementation of a patented process to turn the waste into new packaging material.

To manage the project, we co-founded with the client and the selected suppliers a dedicated venture, currently taking care of the process set-up and execution.
